Sam, a river guide and kayaker originally from Maine, has spent the last few years in the western United States pursuing whitewater adventures and seeking pow turns in the mountains. He graduated from Sierra Nevada University in 2021 with a degree in Sustainability and Outdoor Adventure Leadership. During college, friends introduced him to whitewater kayaking, leading to weekend river explorations. The following season, he tried raft guiding as his summer job and instantly fell in love with the work and the community. This season will mark Sam's first with Cascade, but it will be his fifth season as a river guide, having worked throughout California and in Costa Rica as well. When not on the river, you can find Sam watching F1, practicing his Spanish, or kayaking with friends. He loves sharing his passion for rivers and ecosystems with guests, hoping to inspire them to help protect these environments in the future. His Norse last name, translating to 'rower or oarsman,' confirms he's in the right profession.
