Overview & Highlights
An excellent, practical, hands-on course in river safety and water rescues. This weekend course is designed for all river users including guides, recreational rafters and kayakers, shuttle drivers and others who spend time close to water. Topics addressed include accident prevention and preparedness, rope work, mechanical advantage systems, boat-to-boat and swimming rescues, and personal safety and rescue. In other words, what equipment to carry and how to use it, throw bag techniques, how to access and un-pin a boat, how to reach and rescue a swimmer, and swimming techniques to rescue yourself. In addition to classes scheduled throughout the summer, we offer custom classes for groups of 8 or more.
