Overview & Highlights

An excellent, advanced, hands-on course in river safety and water rescues. This three-day course carries the widely recognized SRT-A certification from Rescue3 International. Designed for rescue professionals and river users including professional guides, fire department personnel, search and rescue teams, and dive teams. Topics addressed include advanced rope work, mechanical advantage systems review, boat handling and advanced swimming rescues, flash flood, canal and low-head dam rescues, and a night operation. In addition to scheduled classes, we offer custom classes for groups of 8 or more. A current SRT-1 certification is a pre-requisite for this course.

What to Bring

It is ideal to practice with your usual and familiar equipment, so bring all the gear you normally carry with you when you are on the river. For activities that require specialized equipment such as setting up anchors and mechanical advantage systems, we'll provide the necessary components. During this class, we will spend a fair amount of time in the river practicing skills and completing scenarios, so be prepared with warm gear. We have wetsuits and booties that you are welcome to borrow, but for early or late season classes, drysuits are more comfortable. Drysuits are available for rent from Alpenglow Mountain Sports (208-331-2628) or Idaho River Sports (208-336-4844).

Driving Directions

Cascade Raft & Kayak is located at 7050 Highway 55, Horseshoe Bend, Idaho about one hour from downtown Boise. Our River Center is easily visible on the west (river-side) of the highway half way between mile markers 70 and 71. The River Center is a tan building with a blue roof where the highway widens to 4 lanes. It is approximately 5 miles north of the town of Horseshoe Bend and approximately 8 miles south of the town of Banks.

Driving time from Boise: about 1 hour
Driving time from McCall: about 1.5 hours
Reservations and Cancellation Policy

Full payment is required to reserve your spaces. For cancellations made ten or more days before your trip, receive a full refund. For cancellations made three to nine days before your trip, receive a 50% refund or 100% Cascade credit. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the trip are non-refundable. This policy is applicable to each member of your party. Please call for our group reservations policy.
